Her football knowledge is debatable, but Katy Perry still managed to score with fans during a performance in Qatar on Sunday evening.
The American singer joined an array of international stars for a live show in the Arab state during the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup, which runs from the 11th to the 21st of December.
Taking to the stage at the the Doha Convention Centre, Katy, 35, commanded attention in a cleavage-baring pink and black sequinned jumpsuit.
With an off-the-shoulder detail, the form-fitting outfit drew attention to the singer’s physique as she entertained fans at the venue, part of the Qatar Foundation’s 2,500-acre campus.
Vibrancy was clearly the order of the day, and she added to her look with generously applied make-up and distinctive chandelier earrings.
Black stiletto heeled boots completed the singer’s look as she marched across the neon lit stage while performing a set-list packed with hits from her back catalogue.
Katy’s performance is part of the entertainment package surrounding this year’s FIFA Club World Cup, a tournament that brings together winning teams from seven professionally governed international football compeтιтions in order to find one definite champion.
She joins American band Maroon 5, Latin music star Maluma, and Cheb Khaled on the roster, with each of them performing in Doha between 13th and 19th of December.
British side Liverpool, winners of last season’s UEFA Champion’s League, will take part in this year’s contest, alongside 2019 Copa Libertadores winners Flamengo.
Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal SFC, Tunisia’s Espérance Sportive de Tunis, Mexico’s C.F. Monterrey, New Caledonia’s Hienghène Sport and Qatari champions Al Sadd SC make up the competing teams in this year’s compeтιтion.
Katy’s performance at the sporting event comes after she revealed that she was left with ’bouts of situational depression’ when her latest album Witness disastrously flopped.
‘I have had bouts of situational depression and my heart was broken last year because, unknowingly, I put so much validity in the reaction of the public, and the public didn’t react in the way I had expected to … which broke my heart,’ she explained.
‘Music is my first love and I think it was the universe saying: “Okay, you speak all of this language about self-love and authenticity, but we are going to put you through another test and take away any kind of validating ‘blankie’. Then we’ll see how much you do truly love yourself.”
‘That brokenness, plus me opening up to a greater, higher power and reconnecting with divinity, gave me a wholeness I never had. It gave me a new foundation. It’s not just a material foundation: it’s a soul foundation.’
