Gigi Hadid has made yet another memorable Met Gala appearance.
The model, 29, took the “Garden of Time” theme to heart as she donned a white off-the-shoulder Thom Browne gown featuring rose detailing. Hadid channeled old Hollywood glamour with a soft up-do and rosy beauty, including a bright red lip.
Her gown also featured an attached train that required about five handlers to fluff out as she posed on the red carpet. Like the top of her dress, the train featured even more yellow appliques and one quirky detail: it was in the shape of a tuxedo jacket — sleeves and all.
Even before hitting the Met steps, Hadid was the epitome of a flower girl as she was seen pᴀssing out yellow roses to fans outside her H๏τel before making her way to the event.
According to Vogue, the dress was no small feat as it took more than 70 people and over 13,500 hours to make by hand. It’s also a once-and-a-lifetime ensemble as it will live in Browne’s permanent archive following the Met Gala, per the publication.
This year’s Costume Insтιтute exhibit will feature approximately 250 items — including 15 significant pieces, such as an 1877 Charles Frederick Worth silk satin ball gown — that span more than 400 years of history.
The dress code is heavily influenced by “The Garden of Time,” J.G. Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same name as well as “fleeting beauty.”
Hadid first made her debut at the Met Gala in 2015, when she wore a stunning red DVF gown that featured a high slit. The following year, she turned heads as she coordinated metallic-accented looks with her then-boyfriend Zayn Malik, with whom she shares daughter Khai, paying tribute to the theme Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.
Since then, she has captivated people with her striking looks, often going for the unexpected, whether dying her hair red in 2021 or decking herself in sequins from head to toe for her extravagant Michael Kors Collection ensemble in 2019.
