Emily Ratajkowski posed in plus size clothing for a magazine cover, drawing backlash from the viewers for the fatphobic essence of the pH๏τos.
Emily Ratajkowski’s “controversial” pH๏τoshoot
Emily shared an Instagram post which showed her in multiple ensembles, posing for a spread in the French publication Le Monde. Social media users have taken particular offence to one picture out of all the ones that were posted. Fans have taken issue with the pH๏τo shoot that they feel trivializes plus-size clothing.
The images are taken by pH๏τographer Oliver Hadlee Pearch, and feature the 32-year-old model standing in light-wash jeans that are at least a size too big on her. She also pulls the waistband of her jeans farther, emphasizing the area she doesn’t fill in. Emily appears to be displaying a noticeable size difference as she holds the waistband out to the side.
Fans lambasts Emily Ratajkowski for “fatphobic” pH๏τo
Tess Holliday, a well-known plus-size model, expressed her amusement at the circumstance by saying, “I’ve been looking for those jeans in the second pH๏τo if you could just please return them that would cool. Tysm,”
A woman commented, “Writing a book centered on body image and then doing the second pH๏τo is crazy,” Kelly Augustine, a stylist, enquired, “What is the reason for this second pH๏τo? genuinely curious.”
“The fact a whole team of people worked on this and thought this was cool is so f*cked up.” wrote another commenter. Emily, who is also the author of My Body, a book from 2021 that addresses women’s bodies in society, body image, and beauty standards, was called a “hypocrite” for participating in the pH๏τo shoot.
