Rihanna may not have been able to make it the Met Gala this year, but she still knows how to execute a perfect street-style look in New York City.
On Thursday night, the “Love on the Brain” singer was spotted out and about in Manhattan, where she turned out in a sleek monochromatic look. Her all-black outfit consisted of a long column skirt, a zip-up hoodie jacket, a shaggy fur coat, and pointed-toe slip-on pumps.
While the outfit could stand on its own as a formula for any New York It girl in the making, Rihanna made sure to up the ante with her accessories. This included oval sunglᴀsses, layers of glittery diamond-encrusted necklaces, and—most notably—a major Chanel purse that broke up the fit’s monochrome palette. The Fenty Beauty founder carried a white iteration of the fashion house’s quilted jumbo flap bag, which included double shoulder straps embedded with gold hardware.
As she is every year, Rihanna was one of the most anticipated guests for this year’s Met Gala, which took place Monday, but the superstar had to skip out on the event at the last minute. A source for People confirmed she had to cancel her appearance after contracting the flu.
Just days before, she’d teased her Met Gala look during an interview with Extra. “I’m actually keeping it real simple this year,” she told the outlet. “It’s gonna come to what my makeup and what my hair is going to do.”
