Dua Lipa will front her own BBC Live Lounge Special ahead of her performance at Glastonbury.

The singer, 28, will perform several tracks for the sepcial including some new music, a classic song and a cover.

In the 30-minute show filmed at Maida Vale Studios, Dua will also be chatting with host Clara Amfo about her new album Radical Optimism.

The Live Lounge Special is an extended version of the Live Lounge segment on Radio 1 which sees the artist interviewed at the beginning of the set before performing a series of songs without a break.

Dua said of the special: ‘I’m so happy to be back in the Radio 1 Live Lounge. I love coming back and being in here, it feels like a full circle moment.

‘It’s so nice to have new songs to perform, new stories to tell, and a whole new world to dive into.

Radio 1 will also host a special Dua Lipa day on Tuesday May 7 which will include an array of content, kicking off with Radio 1’s Live Lounge show.

Dua’s latest album Radical Optimism will be released on May 3. The artist said she landed on the тιтle after being introduced to the concept by a friend.

‘It struck me, the idea of going through chaos gracefully and feeling like you can weather any storm,’ she said in a press statement about the upcoming disc.

The first single, Houdini, was released earlier this year. Training Season, debuted at the Grammys in February.

The artist who broke up with with French director Romain Gavras, 42, in late 2023, sings about what she is looking for a partner in the disco hit.

‘I was like, “Okay, I’m going to write down what I want,”‘ she told Elle.

‘The power of manifestation and writing things into existence with the power of words. When you know your worth, you know what you want and what you don’t want,’ she explained.

‘I was talking about this with one of my dancers today, because she was going through a breakup,’ revealed the One Kiss singer, who is currently dating British actor Callum Turner.

‘When I was single, I didn’t wish it away, ‘she said of the disappointment that goes with ending a relationship.

‘You learn so much about yourself, you know, whether it’s going on a date or spending that time alone. In the silence, you figure out who you really are. In the grand scheme of things, I was doing research.’

Dua Lipa Live Lounge Special will broadcast on BBC One on Monday 6 May at 11.15pm BST and will also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
