Karol G is ready to conquer audiences in the United States. Just weeks after announcing her sold-out tour, the Colombian became the new cover star of Elle.
For the music issue, the magazine decided to tell the story of the “While I Heal of the Heart” singer’s career and how she managed to make her album the first Spanish-language album by a female artist to debut at number one in the United States on the Billboard chart.
“For so many years . . . a lot of people thought my goal of becoming a singer was a joke,” she explained to Elle. “It was a challenge to keep believing in myself.”
On the cover, we see her gorgeous wearing a Vivienne Westwood corset with a daring neckline with Bulgari jewels and, of course, her signature pink hair. The magazine also published a second cover featuring a sculptural LUAR jacket.
Unlike her GQ Mexico cover, Karol was happy with her image in this pH๏τo shoot. “Thank you Elle for this invitation to be on the cover, for these beautiful pH๏τos, for the admiration and respect and for this day that we enjoyed so much,” the singer wrote on her Instagram.
In the interview, Karol opened up about the criticism she’s received against her body, acknowledging that her appearance can change if she’s on a strenuous tour or on vacation. “That’s why, sometimes, you might see me as rounder or skinnier,” she says. “I have my cycles.”
