The 2024 Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival in Indio, California wrapped up its first weekend with another full day of music that began in the early afternoon on the smaller stages.
Eventually, the main Coachella stage began kicking out the jams with the likes of Ludmilla, YG Marley and Carin Leon, before Bebe Rexha made her grand entrance by slowly being lifted from the ground floor to the stage as theatrical smoke poured out.
As the crowd roared in appreciation, the songstress broke out with a dramatic version of Me, Myself & I, which is off her second studio album When It’s Dark Out (2015), with her band and backup dancers behind her.
The New York City native showcased her curves in a skin-тιԍнт black jumpsuit with small white lines around both the pants portion and spaghetti-strap top.
Rounding out her look, she donned a pair of black leather combat-style boots, and had her dyed blonde locks flowing down her back to her waistline, which made for some theatrics when she went into one of several head-banging episodes.
With the crowd now behind her, Rexha tried to rally all the ‘messy b**ches’ out in the audience, while declaring that she too is a ‘messy b**ch.’
That was a signal to the band and dancers to kick into ‘I’m A Mess, from her debut studio album Expectations (2018).
By the time she started taking tune home for the last chorus, Rexha went into her first head-banging frenzy, where she shook her upper body up and down, sending her long blonde locks into the air.
She would locks arms with her dancers for a group head-banging moment at the end of the song as band kicked out some heavy power chords.
From there, the band did a smooth transition straight right into Bad B**ch, without any pauses.
She would wrap up Act one by performing I’m The Drama, another previously unreleased song, followed by I Got You and Sacrifice, according to Setlist.FM.
For Act II she started off with another unreleased tune, тιтled Eat It Up that went into Call You Mine, along with versions of Meant To Be and In The Name Of Love.
Ultimately ,she wrapped up the her Coachella with I’m Good (Blue).
Before her show, Rexha took to her Instagram page to hype up her set with a series of pH๏τos and video from behind-the-scenes, including one of her standing behind an extended van: ‘c u soon chella, 6:50 main stage,’ she wrote in the caption.
She would wear a denim jean jacket over just a purple bra with thigh-high boots for another teaser where she could be seen playing with her long blonde tresses.
Dressed in the same ensemble, the pop starlet send a message: ‘Surpriiiseee! Thanks for letting me cool off with you @whiteclaw,’ she wrote, in a reference to the brand that sells alcoholic drinks.
After a brief break in the action on the Coachella Stage, Columbian star J Balvin powered his way to the stage for an hour-long performance.
The so-called Prince of Reggaeton, who had his breakthrough in 2014 with the song 6 AM, is now one of the best-selling Latin artists, with over 35 million records sold worldwide.
Doja Cat would serve as the main headliner for the Coachella Stage on Sunday, delivering her unique brand of pop music, which featured songs off her acclaimed albums Planet Her (2021) and Scarlet (2023).
Some of the other musical artists to take the other stages on Sunday included the likes of Jhene Aiko, Victoria Monét, DJ Snake, Boy Harsher, BICEP, John Summit, ARTBAT, Khruangbin, and Renee Rapp, and many others.
After a four-day break 2024 Coachella resumes with the second weekend of shows on Friday, April 19 through Sunday, April 21, with Lana Del Rey, Tyler, The Creator and Doja Cat returning as the three main headliners.
No Doubt, who delivered an electrifying Rock Steady show in their reunion set on Saturday, will return to the Coachella stage for another performance during the festival’s second weekend.
While this was the band’s first concert in more than nine years, the positive feedback from fans and critics alike could be the inspiration to get them to reunite for a full-fledged tour.
