Lizzo stole the spotlight in her jaw-dropping ensemble for the star-studded 10th Annual Breakthrough Prize ceremony on Saturday.
The 35-year-old Truth Hurts hitmaker — who recently clarified that she’s not stepping away from music — turned heads in a dramatic black gown as she posed on the red carpet at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles.
Radiating the aura of a glamorous movie star, the artist dazzled in couture that featured a wing-like bodice stretching beyond her shoulders.
She sported Bettie Page bangs and designer stilettos, as she showcased her natural beauty with minimal makeup, exuding effortless allure.
Lizzo led a starry group of A-listers, including Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Margot Robbie and more, as they honored an ‘esteemed group of the world’s most brilliant minds for their impactful scientific discoveries’ at the annual gala, per the Breakthrough Prize website.
The Grammy winner’s appearance comes almost two weeks after she clarified that she has no plans to stop making music after sharing an alarming Instagram post, in which she declared she ‘quit’ due to nonstop criticism.
After admitting that she was ‘tired of getting dragged by everyone’ over her looks, the 35-year-old superstar jumped on social media to clarify what she meant by saying she ‘quit.’
In her latest video, the four-time Grammy winner appeared on camera as she told fans that she actually meant that she ‘quit giving any negative energy attention.’
‘What I’m not going to quit is the joy of my life, which is making music, which is connecting to people, ’cause I know I’m not alone,’ the performer (born Melissa Viviane Jefferson) ᴀssured fans.
She continued: ‘In no way, shape or form, am I the only person, who is experiencing that negative voice that seems to be louder than the positive.’
The Truth Hurts hitmaker went on to say that if she gave even just ‘one person the inspiration or motivation to stand up for themselves’ against negative people or comments than she was doing ‘more than’ she ‘could have hoped for.’
‘With that being said, I’m going to keep moving forward. I’m going to keep being me. Once again, I just wanted to say thank you. The love I have received means more than you know,’ she concluded.
Earlier this week, she told her followers that she was ‘getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet.’
‘All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it,’ she wrote in a statement. ”But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it.’
Lizzo went on to vent that it was frustrating to ‘constantly’ be ‘up against lies’ being told about her ‘for clout & views’ and ‘being the ʙuтт of the joke every single time because’ of her appearance.
‘My character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name,’ she concluded. ‘I didn’t sign up for this s**t. I quit.’
Her initial post about quitting came just one day after the lawyer for Lizzo’s three ex-dancers that previously sued her for Sєxual harᴀssment slammed ‘shameful’ President Joe Biden for letting her perform at his $25million Radio City fundraiser on Thursday.
Last year in August, the music artist was notably sued by three of her ex-dancers – Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez – who accused her of Sєxual harᴀssment as well as creating a hostile work environment.
After the lawsuit came to light, Lizzo broke her silence on Instagram and stated the claims were both ‘unbelievable’ and ‘outrageous.
