Julia Fox debuted one of her strangest ensembles to date when she stepped out in New York City on Thursday to promote her new fashion design series OMG Fashun.
The 34-year-old Uncut Gems star was out on the town for the press day of her new E! compeтιтion series, which she co-hosts with the celebrity stylist Law Roach.
She appeared to be decked out in a ‘boundary-breaking look’ that would be right at home with contestants on OMG Fashun, which premieres May 6 at 9 p.m.
She had all eyes on her as she showed off a long platinum blond wig, though it was her suit decorated with grooming tools and her hair shoes that drew the most attention.
Her skimpy ensemble included a lacy white halter top that she wore under a single-ʙuттon black suit jacket that had multiples pairs of scissors, needles, hair clips and other styling accoutrements attached to the fabric.
Julia went pants-free, instead opting for a matching set of black panties, and over the crotch she had additional silver hair clips arranged in the shape of a cross.
The actress-turned-fashion iconoclast flaunted her toned legs with some sheer black stockings.
The most unusual portion of her ensemble was her footwear. Julia stood on her toes as if wearing high heels, but she appeared to only have set of blond hair extensions matching her wig that were draped over her toes and decorated with silver hair clips to hold the strands together.
It’s not clear if Julia had tried to walk around the the hair extensions of if she merely draped them over her feet while posing for pH๏τos.
Her wig featured long blond locks draped over her shoulders and held back with more clips and rollers, and she had her eyebrows bleached blond for good measure while wearing severe ’60s-style eye makeup.
Julia completed the unusual ensemble with a playful white handbag with sample contents illustrated on the side.
Julia was announced as the co-host of OMG Fashun in early February.
The compeтιтion series will feature three contestants in each episodes tasked with creating a ‘boundary-breaking look born of Fox’s beautifully bold brain using materials and techniques that would make fashion’s so-called gatekeepers squirm,’ according to Variety..
‘OMG Fashun is shaping the future of fashion, emphasizing sustainability, upcycling and creative craftsmanship to restore integrity to this art form,’ Julia said in a statement at the time. ‘Being the most stylish person in the room doesn’t require breaking the bank; all it takes is creativity and a dash of confidence. My biggest hope is that our viewers will get inspired by what we create on the show and recreate the looks at home using all their old junk they have lying around.’
She seems to have lived by those principles, as much of her outfit on Thursday featured repurposed items and could have been arranged from simple existing clothes.
In addition to hosting the new series, Julia is also executive producing.
Just days after the 2023 Academy Awards, her co-host Law Roach shocked the fashion world and the entertainment industry when he announced he was retiring from styling the stars — with the exception of his longtime friend Zendaya.
After blaming the ‘politics’ of Hollywood styling and the lack of recognition that came with it, he seems to be gravitating toward a more public role with the profile-raising series.
